Default Rant: Re010's suck in the rain...

I know this topic has been talked about for the past 5 years, but this was my first time driving on Re010's in the rain (I've always had Kumho 712's on my daily driver rims)... RE010's suck monkey nuts. Dang it, I miss having a beater.

both city and hwy. Doing 5mph under the speedlimit. The car would squirm, everytime I went over a little bit of stagnant water... that never happened with 712's.

Standing water + RE010 = wild ride

Pat, who much preferred the 712's for daily driving

RE010's suck monkey nuts. :thumbdown

I had directly the opposite view of my RE010's... I liked them so much I purchased a used set to use when my OE set ran out. On track in damp conditions they were awsome.

Oh no, I didn't mean that they suck overall. I love RE010's in the dry! I just can't believe the difference between RE010's and 712's in the rain.

I'm on my second set of Re010's thanks to a fellow H-T member.

I agree with Will. RE010's rule. You obviously haven't take a ride on Falkens in the rain yet...but if you do hold on to your seat.

I have a sick video from Kazaa with an ITR and an NSX racing on a track in the pouring rain. I dont know if the JDM ITR has the RE010's or not, but that thing was handling awesome around that soaked track, and keeping its distance on the NSX. I couldnt imagine driving my car that fast in the rain around turns like that, especially on my Kumhos in the rain.

If you think the RE-010's suck in the rain, you should try the MXGT4's or whatever the hell the stock GSR tyre is... talk about sucking... Oh, they suck in the dry too...

as a matter of fact, I had '96 GS-R with those Shitchelines... they are economy tires.

I don't see why people keep slamming the Falkens for wet weather. I run mine Daily, AutoX and Track Days and have yet to have any problem in the rain. This includes 60-70mph on the highway under deluge conditions. I even AutoX them on a day that it rained for 12 hours. There was standing water everywhere on course and the just after the start, there was ~1-2 inches of water. I had amazing traction for the conditions and was able to beat a few WRXs. They are not that bad.

Azenis suck in standing water, RE010's sucks in standing water, S03's aren't too bad in the rain. They are better then the 2 listed above.

Craig - Who saves the Azenis for the track

I'm not in any way flaming the Falken's, they are a great tire. BTW - I have the falkens on and I use my car as a DD also . For the record, it's ~fresh~ in my memory on how the tires handle in the rain, since it was a freakin downpour in Pitts last night. They handled just fine; just not as stable as the RE010's.

Not as bad as they do in sleet and snow.

Personally, I dont mind them at all in the rain. Standing puddles make for hours upon hours of in-car entertainment.

I think the RE010 does just fine in the rain.

Perhaps the difference is in tread depth. I bet they're fine at reasonable tread depth, but don't do so well when the tread is worn down close to the treadwear indicator bars.

Mine are down to the treadwear bars, and they're still good in the rain. It has been raining today, and I laid into the brakes HARD at a stoplight to see if I could break them lose(bad mood today), and they held tight. REO10 are good in the rain IMHO.

Thanks, jond. I haven't worn mine down that far yet, so I don't know.

I guess what we have here is a difference of opinion.
