Yes it grinded for me....
YES it didn't grind for some others..
either way I wouldn't worry if it is going into your SiR/Si....since the Mitsuba starter will work just fine with it....
It's the Integras with the Denso starter which experienced the grinding problems.

Mitsuba starter...No grind..
Denso starter...maybe grind....
Mitsuba starter = SiR
Denso = ITR
it bears no relation to what tranny it will go into. I use Mitsuba starter.

Listen to RagingAngel - he's right.
I had the Spoon flywheel with the Denso starter and it grinded. Now I have the Mitshebishi (sp?) one and it starts everytime.

Just modify the flywheel.
cheaper than buying a starter.
I did this with a few of the JUN/other steel flywheels and voila! no grind

I'd imagine you'd have to remove the flywheel to do that IF it was already installed....Just trade up with an SiR/Si owner... and voila....his car now has a stronger starter.
To note, the Mitsuba is weaker when cranking and this was very evident when doing a compression test. Sounded like the car was lazy to turn over.
