im sure it can make 20psi but will nothold it and will not make the power you may be looking for as its MAX efficiency is more at about 12-14psi.

its not about psi its about the power you wanna make and the efficiency of the turbo being used.

for example my turbo IS A T3 but it will amke around 800 max, so is it fair to compare the saab turbo to my bullseye, no,

you get what im sayin bud?

yah I get that, I'm looking at 300-350 hp but I know I won't make that on this turbo its just there until I can get a nicer one.

for what it is worth, the 86-7 grand nationals had a straight t3 also, we used to run one at 30 psi with the help of a water to air intercooler.

You can, but the question is, will the turbo be efficient at that pressure ratio. I'd imagine it'd work just fine, but you IATs might be a tad higher than you'd like...

The two problems with that saab turbo is the size/design of both wheels. The compressor is a big small (275whp MAX), and the turbine is a stg1 wheel, of which has very curled over tips on the exducer (outlet). It is set up to spool fast, but choke the flow up top. Saab and Volvo used these turbos to add torque, not max HP. Basicly you could get about the same max WHP from those engines if done NA with a nice header.

If it is a true 50trim, it is most efficient at 18psi, and flows ~31lb/min. Seeing as how a 57trim t04e can do ~47-53lb/min (diff sites say diff #'s) and 450whp with a stg3 turbine, chances are its good for 250whp at that pressure on a good motor.

Places like rcautoworks.com have cheap 60trim t3's with the same comp housing but I think a stg3 turbine, and that would be good for a little over 300whp.
