RDX realistic MPG?
hello everyone, i'm currently in the market for a sport suv. but the RDX's mpg rating isn't that appealing. on top of that, it needs premium, with US's gas prices on the rise, its a tough choice.. go green or turbo? ;0
but realistically. for those rdx owners, can you enlighten me on the mpg you guys get in 2 situations.
1. normal mix city/highway
2. heavy foot mix city/highway
thanks.

Mileage will ultimately depend on your driiving habits, as it will show. Under normal throttle and conservative driving, I am currently averaging about 18mpg. I can do as bad as 15mpg, but that's not too appealing, so I dont reach this. It handles like a champ, takes off like a fast car, and feels like a modified suspension vehicle. Ease on the throttle, and it will provide decent gas mileage.
Overall, I am not regretting this purchase, although gas sucks a bit. I tend to ease the throttle on the highway and do not take off heavily in the city, so the result is in the 18 MPG average.
Unless you pout about gas prices, the RDX is an excellent buy.

The engine currently reached 2.5k miles, so the 18 MPG average is solid. It did take some time for the mpg to stabilize and provide a more stable mpg average. I was pulling 15-16 mpg average at the begining.
As has been said, it really will depend on how you drive the car. I'm sure you could beat up on the EPA ratings if you really wanted to.

When driving normal, or when my wife is driving it...about 18-19/20-21mpg

i don't drive my RDX like a madman, but i get 19-20 mpg city/20-22mpg highway. It's pretty consistent, even though it's not great, it's still pretty consistent. I'm always pumping 92+ octane. 91 if i'm in the boonies of WI somewhere and they don't have anything higher.
i've been keeping track of gas/mileage, and the last three oil changes i've had, i've averaged 19-20 mpgs consistently.

thanks for the replies guys.
it does sound reasonable for the RDX. i'm just very skeptical because of the fuel situation in the United States. It just reached the highest just the other day. (1 barrel of oil $100+?)
also, the competition is getting pretty stiff for SUV's in the RDX category, not to mention the hybrids from toyota are very appealing because of gas consumption.
once again, thanks for the input. i'll use the 19mpg as a standard for the rdx.
