Getting HID's.. What size bulb and what K?
I have a 2000 civic si, getting a plug and play kit.
I believe my car takes H4. Is that correct? Also they have H4-2 which also has a high beam. If I just get the h4, when I put on my high beams will my lights just shut off?
Also I am undecided between 8k, 10k. I want a tint of blue, but also want it to put out good light. Does anyone have a chart that shows the differences? I've seen it before but cant seem to find it. Thanks.

i never heard of h4-2...is that high and low beam hid? or high beam is halogen?
if it is just a low kit then yes when high beam clicks lights will shut off.
8k is blue. 10k is closer to blurple

The place on honda tech that sells them for $130 is great. Their H4 kits come with the bright bulb as well.
However...without projectors, aftermarket HID kits dont really put out light very effectively on civics for whatever reason.
My GSR has the same brand HIDs as my friend's EK. Mine actually light up the road without blinding anyone. His blind people and the light output really isnt that great.
4300k is what OEMs use. I wouldn't go any higher. The higher you go from 4300k, the lower the light output.

How about 6k? Does that have any blue at all to it?
And how hard is installation on a plug and play kit? Easy im assuming since its PLUG AND PLAY lol, but I mean changing out the bulbs, etc is that hard?

get 6000k
is crystal white with blue tint
really nice
i would not get anything higher than 6k
i recommend you to do a retrofit in you headlights because reflector headlight with hid will blind other drivers and looks like ****.
civic uses 9003(h4)
the h4-2 bulb is available for high and low
hope this help
i just finished doing a retrofit projector headlight for my 00 civic si with infinity FX projectors. it looks really nice but i havent install the hid kit yet

It's easy. The hard part is putting all the weather grommets back on over the wires and crap. And even that is easy. This is only if you buy the kit with the additional brights halogen bulb attatched to it. Yes it's definately H4...and 6k looks fake, IMO. It looks too blue. If you like how OEM HIDs look..it's 4300k. Everything else looks like Fake I.D.s instead of H.I.D.s.

Thanks guys.
I have a choice of either h4 of h4-2. What do you guys think I should get? Will the HID output be less since the H4-2 has an extra bulb for high beams? I can get them for the same price, but you say installation is harder right?
Also I think I'm going with 8k. I like a tint of blue, so I ruled out 10k since its REALLY blue.

Tint of blue? I used to have 8ks. It's more than a tint of blue. If you want a tint of blue, go 6k. The pictures on the websites for HIDs are really inaccurate. They make everything look a lot whiter than it really is.
The H42 is worth it if you want brights. It doesn't make the HID any dimmer. It's just another bulb hanging off the HID. The installation really isn't that hard..but if you're not good with wiring, then dont do the H4-2s.
Remember, you will now have LESS light output on the road than your stock headlights. If you're lucky, you will have about the same amount of light on the road as your stock halogen bulbs.

Yeah HID's are cool and all that but with your headlights its pointless without a Retro fit. And idk anything about Retrofit's but they seem expensive.

I'm in the process of retrofitting projectors (Bi-Xenon) with a set of 6000K bulbs into my stock headlights of a 98 Civic EX. Personally I would not use the plug and play kits b/c I've heard they aren't very good, now no I can't back that up but thats just what I have heard. I do know and have seen that they tend to get very warm, well very hot and with out a projector they will melt your reflective piece. Personally speaking, I would not do anything other than a retrofit, out put and quality is awesome.

umm...you can keep your brights with a NON bi-xenon kit as well. The Bi Xenon uses an hid for a bright and for a low beam through the same projector or reflector beam. The prius has it. Audis have it. The TL has it. It's a shutter that moves the beam up or down, i believe. It's a lot more $$.
You can do the HID for a low beam with an H1 halogen bulb hanging off it for a bright. That's not a Bi-xenon. It's just a dual beam HID or something.
