Default Difference between base RSX and Civic Si

I am looking to get either an 2004-2005 RSX or Civic Si. Just wondering what the major difference are in the engine / transmission / performance wise. I tried searching and looking at the FAQ and no luck. Only one I can find is that the gearing is different between the SI and RSX on that the Si has shorting gearing for "faster" pickup. Do they have the same ECU (fuel ignition map?). I believe I saw they have the same brakes.

Thanks in advance

For specifics, go to the acuranews.com and hondanews.com links in the FAQ.

But overall, you'll hear varying opinions about what people like best--but what it all boils down to is that performance-wise they are basically the same car. Get the one you like best, because the rest is pretty much a wash.

performance wise they are both practiclly the same except the IM on the base rsx is a dual runner which provieds an extra 10 lbs of torque over the SI. The rest is aesthetics.

Wrong. Neither car has an LSD.

It's not an OEM part. Don't confuse the OP.

Thanks Todd00 and everyone else for your replies...this is exactly what I was looking for. I think I'm leaning towards the Si because of the "performance" nature of the vehicle.

I'll check out acuranews and hondanews

The Si he's talking about does not have 200hp. He's asking comparisons about the RSX (base) and the EP3 Si. Both are very similar cars which put out 160hp (old hp ratings).

I used to drive a 03' base RSX, it is a very fun car to drive and very reliable, which all honda's are, but if I would suggest something, I would suggest spending the extra 2 grand on a Type S. I traded my RSX in for a Type S and it's a night and day difference with the performance of the car. Two completely different engines. If you don't have an extra two grand, just wait and save up for it. You'll regret not buying it later down the road.

The EP3 has more of a performance look, but that's as far as it goes.

Still, I'd advise you to drive both and see which one you like better.
