no, I'm pretty sure you can join and not post, wait however long (as long as it's longer than trial period) and after you post for the first time your account would get upgraded to normal user.

thats what I have come up with after seeing many people ask and be like "how come I'm still a trial user" so I look and they aren't, then they say "well I was when I posted" and they've been a member for 30+ days. So far it has held true

I thought the trial period was 5 days. That has come and gone so I want to bring this to someones attention if there is a problem.
