P08 ECU question.
I am currently working on an auto to manual conversion in my 1996 Civic EX and I have an ecu from a D15B. Will this ecu work with the D16Y8? I did some searching and never really could find a solid answer as to if the fuel/timing maps would work or not.
And yes I know the conversion harness is needed.
Thanks for the help.

P08 - JDM D15B engine, 1.5L 130hp VTEC engine. Similer to our D16Z6 but 1.5L
it will work with the Y8 if you have it chipped with the Y8 program. (currently not the right fuel or ignition maping)
OR pick up a P2P out of a 96-98 Civic. (99-00 is OBD2b and require an OBD2a to OBD2b harness)
P2P-A01 or A31 (96)
P2P-A03 or A33 (97)
P2P-A34 (98)
P2P-A12 (99-00)
any of the others are auto trans.

P2P is def not an option as I am going turbo soon. I will probably end up getting it chipped when I order the harness from Phearable. I was needing to do it anyway. I'm just hoping my transmission can hang on a few more weeks. No biggie. Thanks for the replies.
It wont run lean. Are you just guessing? In closed loop it will chase after stoich, and at WOT it will run rich just like Honda designed.
Timing is the big difference between different ECUs. Ideally timing should be close to MBT, but if you run a different motor or a different head than the ECU was tuned for, your timing will not be optimal.
Buying a chip over the internet is the same thing. Timing has to be tuned to your motor. I don't mean the same engine code, I mean the actual motor that is sitting in your engine bay. Your engine may run fine (if you're lucky) but you will not be getting the most torque your engine is capable of producing.

</TD></TR></TABLE> What do you mean vtec doesn't hit as hard? Vtec either works or doesn't there is no medium vtec engagement. You probably have a chipped p08 on h22 maps. Btw why did you bring up a post 2 months old?
