Remote Starters
I was wondering if anyone has a remote starter on their car? I know most cars on here are manual, but if by chance you have an auto and remote start, or have experience/knowledge in this area, what are the pros and cons of remote start? Thanks in advance
I just thought i'll throw this data in i found on this site.

I've had remote starters on several of my vehicles. For my money, they are one of the best investments I've ever made. Not only are they great for cold weather, but teriffic for hot weather as well. Once you have one, you will probably find it difficult to ever have another car without one.
I have a five speed and i have an alarm/remote start... They are amazing in the cold weather. Like previously stated one of the greatest investments... Well spent money....
I dont know about a DIY, but you can have it done at Curcuit City. They will only do it on autos because on some older cars you dont have to push the clutch in to start the car; they would leave it in gear, and drive the car into the house.
(Curcuit City does not mess with Clutch bypass)

My friend was the install manager so he did the install on mine. 04 Ex 5 spd but yea they wont do it on manual.... He did the clutch bypass on mine so i HAVE to leave it in neutrel car can be started without clutch in also... But ill pay that price for the convienience its great....
I did my remote starter myself. I found all the information at http://www.the12volt.com, and http://www.bulldogsecurity.com. As far as I know the DEI's viper 791xv alarm is pretty easy to install. I did my own clutch bypass but, the way I did mine is you still have to press the clutch when you start the car with the key, and it only remotes start when the ebrake is engaged. Once you do it you won't believe how easy installing an alarm really is!
yes you have to get the immobilizer bybass for the remote start to operate so it can bypass the skim. My bypass was like 80 dollars but i got the one that is programmed so i didnt lose my extra key

yea i did a dei remote start with the dei immobilizer bypass.... I cant give a price on the full system installed cuz i had installation free from my friend and i was givin the remote start so all i paid for was the bypass...
I have one on my car since I bought it(yeah its Auto)..and it works great anytime.
And I like how it works to warm up the engine in cold winter. If you are not good at electrical things you better give it to a shop to do it. I did that at car toys for 800 dollars.....
