OK my brother has a 2000 civic Ej8 with a d15b sohc vtec.

i'm pretty sure it's a swap into the civic but i'm not sure.

in the past week all of the following has happened.

Random misfires.
won't rev past 5,500 rpm (no Vtec)
car occasionally losing throttle response and doesn't regain it until the car drops under 3.5k RPM

he's using the stock 2000 civic ex ECU...
just recently started having a problem with it..

any ideas?

 

Yes, it's a swap. The stock engine is a D16Y8 1.6L SOHC VTEC.

Can't help you much more though.

 

yeah i knwo that's the motor but what do you think would cause these problems...

we tried swapping ecu's out with my 00 civic ex Ecu i think it's a P2T or P2P
and also tried using a OBD-1 P28 and it still acts retarded.
