Default Civic 2005 EX... Is this a good deal?

Okay, I am not really sure what I should pay for this Civic and need some assistance and advice...

It is a certified preowned for $15,488.
It is a 2005 Civic EX Stock.
It has 23,800 miles.
It has crappy tires and breaks. (drums in rear, i assumed disc).

There is a little burning smell up by the header.. not sure what to make of it...
Warranty is $0 deductible for 12months or 12,000 miles...

Do you think that is good or bad?

Also, if i was to get this, i would want disc breaks in the back.. has anyone done that.. If need be, i can make a separate post...

Also, is the EX a vtec?

TIA!!!

EDIT: http://www.samarins.com/reviews/civic.html <-- has some good information..

Says something about leaking shocks... Can anyone expand on that?

You might want to try searching and reading the rules posted, as most of the information you are questioning about has been covered and is easily accessible in a quick search.

I'd say the price is ok, but nothing to brag about. And, the fact that it has drum brakes in the rear means near nothing. They have nearly the same stopping power as the disc brake alternatives, and the rear brakes only perform 30% of the car's overall braking.

Yeah thats a pretty good deal, your not stealing the car but you not getting raped either, but the burning smell up by the header is probably spilled oil when all dealers replace fluids on cars they sell. Some just might have dripped on the header no biggie.

Thanks for the good info... Based on KBB.com and what other dealers are selling these cars for, this one is priced about the same.

Tx..
