Default Noob spray gun questions.. check later posts for new q's :)

I just have a cheap 2.75hp belt driven compressor with a 50L tank,

and want a budget gun.
i think i have settled on a DeVILBISS FinishLine 3, which is said to be used with a 3hp+ compressor.. yet mine is just less at 2.75hp

will there be any real issues going down this path?

first thing first, you get the gun/compressor according to the CFM not the horsepower.

most of the hp are not accurate and most will not give you the full reading without a good 240 hook up.

let's keep it simple if you have a 13 gallon/50 liter tank, you are probably gonna be limited to panel works to be honest.

finishline is decent for it's price, it's not a good gun to shoot if you are serious.

with a small **** compressor you have you might want to get a LVLP gun instead of HVLP gun

thanks for the reply

so it requires 13 cfm @ 23 psi.

and i just found out that my compressor is just under 9cfm

so what would be the drawbacks of using such an underrated compressor??
and on top of that, does anyone have suggestions on a LVLP gun?

well from reading other info on the net

seems a lot of people suggest the
Astro LVLP Evo 40** series of guns for such setups..

anyone else want to express their thoughts?

evo will be my suggestion also, i never really used those LVLP gun since i do have a decent size comrpessor tank.

small compressor small tank=compressor turns on and off all the time, noisy, shorten life of compressor, have to wait between charge

60 gallon is the least for a complete car paint at home, those might range you about 5 hp with 240v, about 500-700USD

my gun runs at 42psi about 12-13 cfm

NEW Q:

someone told me that gravity feed guns are not supposed to be used with acrylic paint.. is this true?

i will have to go with an acrylic paint because i dont want to use 2 pack because it is too dangerous for a backyard job from what i have read.

well
my compressor instructions say it is 250LPM (FAD - Free Air Delivery)
which = 9CFM

but the astro gun says it uses an average of 9.6-9.8CFM and it is an operating pressure of 25PSI

will my compressor be even less cfm at 25PSI?

so can anyone confirm that my above question?

basically my compressor is 9CFM @ FAD
so this is no good for something that needs 9CFM at 25psi?

i sprayed my crx with the divilbiss finishline and i would not reccommend spraying clear with it. the compressor kept on loosing pressure in the middle of a panel, and it was with a 30 gal 5hp compressor at 9cfm. base layed down really good though.

if i were u I'd pay the extra money and buy an iwata lph400 and it sprays clear like glass and at only 9cfm
