Trunk light not working all the time
When I open the trunk on my '99 Honda Accord EX sedan some times the trunk light comes on some times not. I thought it was the bulb, but if I jiggle or hit the light it has no effect. Sometimes it comes on a minute after I first open the trunk? Then some times it works great, sometimes not? Where is the switch for this trunk light mounted??

it could be the switch but i would make sure it was not the bulb. go ahead and put a new bulb in there. if the problem persist then go ahead and begin troubleshooting. I'm almost sure its just the bulb though

Hello,
I also have this exact same problem. Bought a 2000 Accord EX about a month ago and the trunk light comes on sometimes, and sometimes not until a minute after the lid is opened. I tried wiring up LED's to it the other day and for 2 days the light would not work at all. Then today I opened to trunk to see if they were working and at first the LED's came on, then they went dim after a few seconds. I played with the wires to make sure they were secure and the LED's would flicker from bright to dim. I tried plugging in the original trunk light and that won't come on at all now.
No idea what is going on here...

You realize you bumped a 7 year old thread.
Anyway the light assembly appears to have a diode built in so adding another diode may complicate matters.
Pretty basic circuit. 12v to light assembly. Wire from light assy to switch on latch. Wire from switch to ground. When trunk opens latch assy switch closes and applies ground to light
Replace bulb, check to see if 12v is at lamp assy white with blue wire if so check ground (orange wire) through switch

Also make sure there is no build-up on the contacts where it meets the lamp. Mine was driving me nuts and as I was going through with my meter trying to find the fail point must have scraped off whatever build up on the contacts that was causing the issue
