XM Radio? what do you think of it?
My sony headunit has the satellite radio XM stuff......anyone got it? is it a waste? for $300 for the reciever and an extra montly fee, it seems pretty expensive for what it is

I think it's a waste unless you drive your car for living or something. 10 bucks or more a month is just too much. Sure you get way more channels and clearer signals but it still goes out when you go under obstructions. Maybe if you travel long distances and want to keep the same channel as you go along I guess. I'll stick with regular radio.
yah, i was just hyped up at the beginning before i really started finding out things........i figured i would be able to get kick *** electronic music channels......but now its
to me!

. I figure it is an alternative to getting a cd changer and as for the monthly fee, you figure that a CD costs like $15 bucks or so.I'm also
because you have to figure out where to put the antenna. [Modified by dc24me, 3:27 AM 6/30/2002]
OK this is just MY own personal opinion based on how much time I spend in my car, what its worth IMO, and everything.. so if you like XM, etc.. then thats cool.. but I'm just stating my own opinion on it..
I think its a waste of money because I can burn an Mp3 cd w/ about 150 + songs and pop it into a 6 disc Alpine MP3 changer (Cha-S634) which also doubles as a regular CD-Audio cd player/changer... and if I put Mp3 cd's in all 6 magazine slots.. thats about 900 songs... downloaded from the internet so its free.. and a CD-R doesn't cost much these days.. so it doesnt cost much to burn a bunch and keep them all in your car ... of course I could also just get a new head unit that reads Mp3s and do the same thing.. I don't think its worth it to pay a monthly fee to listen to the radio... my commute is about 30 miles... and I'd rather listen to songs I selected to burn on a CD..

I have it and i was sceptical at first. But now that is all I listen to. I can listen to any style i want including kick *** techno and it sounds as good as cd would in a car. As for putting the antena somwhere, just istall it on your rear deck inside your car, not the window antena the other one. That is what I did and i have yet to have a drop out. I think that the whole thing is like cable or satilite tv, it is a waste of money if you don't listen, but once you start it is hard to imagine not having it. You get addicted very quickly.
Just IMO.
