Default oil pan baffling/clearance?

so what do you guys run for oil pans for autox/road racing? id like to move to something baffled and lower profile than my factory pan...

so far ive found 2 options really.

a moroso pan would give me the baffling and lower profile (i think?) but i have read many storied of people never getting them to stop leaking.

or i just found the baffle kit on heeltoeauto.com for $24 bucks, but i dont have any welding skill and am not sure who i could get to weld in it correctly, and this would leave me with the stock clearance still.

so what do you guys think i should do. oh ps its for a b18 block.

i have used the morosso. ive had 2 of them and neithe rone leaked. my first one sweat a little but my currant one is fine. personally, i realy don't care. it keeps oil around the pick-up at all times and doesnt ruin my garage floor.

I have been running a morosso for two years now on my dc2. I have had no problems with leakage. Its the same exact size as the factory gsr pan but with baffles, so the one I got didn't help me in the clearance department. The only suggestions I have are: Use a factory pan gasket (or factory equivalent). DO NOT use a cheap cork gasket. Dab hondabond over the seems where the block and oil pump housing meet and also the seems where the block and rear main seal housing meet. (These steps should be done while installing any pan, factory or aftermarket). And the last thing I did was put hondabond on the threads of the drain back plug. (I am not using the drain back). Follow these steps and you should be ok. Good luck.

just gotta figure out how to weld...

I did mine with my Lincoln MIG. Just make sure you clean it well and don't burn any holes in it. (And if you do, weld'em closed again...)

Why are you looking for better oil pan clearance? Your header will get trashed well before an oilpan.

Nice

Thanks for the link to heeltoeauto. I was just thinking about lookin to have my stock pan baffled and those kits are rather cheap in comparison to a morosso pan.
