On any sunday...pics of our ride (Venezuela 12/16/07)
So today I went to another group ride organized by our local forum...I already knew one of the guys, so we went together to meet the other forists. There were three guys that were coming from out of town too.
It was raining and cloudy early, but as morning progressed it began to clear up so the ride was given a go.
It was nice, even though I felt kinda out of place between all the liters LOL, but all the guys were very friendly, so I didn't feel like I didn't belonged there.
The only bad thing is that one of the 3 guys that was coming from out of town suffered a lowside (it was raining pretty badly in the highway, and it hit them on their way here). He was gearing his gear and didn't had any injuries...but because of the rain and a little miscomunication between the three of them, he was riding alone when he suffered the lowside, and in the rush to try to lift up his bike (Blackbird) he seemed to have torn a ligament on his right arm. He still managed to get to the meeting, but seeing his situation, he returned to his city with his 2 buddies.
Later on we received notice that they arrived ok, but the dude is going to go under the knife.
But other than that, it was a great ride...I need to find a sportbike soon
Here are the pics because I know you guys love them. Sorry for the quality but I was running out of batteries, and the sun was shining very much so I had a hard time making adjustments.

That '07 R1 looks really cool. I like how he didn't match the rimtape to the color of the bike (i.e., blue rimtape).
I'm going to put red rimtape on my blue/yellow 1KRR. What do you guys think?

I think for a south american country, and indeed for most countries with less developed roads than america, the perfect bike is a motard or enduro

Well, we have lots of asphalt. It's just that the roads aren't in the best condition.
But yes, there is also a lot of fun backroads, some asphalt, some dirt...but all of them are fun to ride.
And I was going to motard my XT, but I'm wanting to see if I could step up to something else, like a Husky, Katoom or a WR400/426 and motard them...but I'm not totally sure they could handle daily commuting duties as well as the XT.

Auto-mac = drive-thru.

I am sure they could handle daily usage, it's just the wear and tear of daily use that adds up and takes it's toll.... more expensive bike, more expensive replacements
Those RR bikes will not see potential on the roads shown thus far, PLUS enduros are just plain fun to ride
Hitmen only ride Dual Purpose

Well, my daily commute is about 21 miles round trip, many of them are on the highway...but since there is so much traffic on any hour of the day, I have to split lanes so I have to go slowly between the cars, 20-30 MPH tops. When I don't have any traffic ahead I could punch it, but anyways I'm concerned that riding on speeds near 60 MPH could make me do weekly oil and filter changes, and top end/piston rebuilds every 6 months or so.
I'm trying to find out more about daily usage of similar machines, there is a 02 Husky TE570 at a very good price for sale, and it would make a nice platform for motarding it.

That's because I can't take pics when on the highway...on busy city streets or country backroads, DS and motards rule...but whenever we got on the highway I was humbled down once again
