Default Sprayed my 1st waterborne base/clear! pics

Whats up. So first off im attending UTI taking collision repair courses. We all have a chevy s-10, fenders and hood we are working on. Im F***IN stoked on how mine turned out so i thought id post some pics. The front ends are first stripped to bare metal and our teacher puts about 8 dents throughout the entire thing wit his hammer. After metal straightening and body filler i blocked all the dents till straight. Then applied 1 coat of dupont self etching primer. After it had flashed sprayed 1 coat of dupont primer filler. guide coated and blocked. and sprayed 2 more coats of filler with blocking in between each. My last blocking was done with 320 and then i used a DA with 400 to remove 320 scratches. Then sprayed 1 coat of dupont primer sealer. Then picked a color i liked which happened to be from some kinda 99 nissan?!?! neways mixed it all up with my boy who shot his midori green

Next i applied 3 coats of dupont cromax paint which is a waterborne paint.

Then sprayed 3 coats of dupont chroma clear

It needed very minor cut and buff. there was a little *** bit of orange peel i wanted to remove and a couple peices of dirt landed on it of course. But heres the finished project, im extremely happy with the outcome.

Quick question how much you get the waterborne base for?????? Btw the outcome is awesome.I tend to hear alot that the base tends to try as flat as a glass. And not have the texture of the urethane base coats.Looks great.

the paint and everything is supplied through my school. We use all dupont products and Sata spray guns. Garmat downdraft booths. its a nice way to spray. As far as the waterborne laying down, its weird right after you spray it honestly looks like ****. But once the water starts evaporating and it cures it looks awesome.

What Sata gun where you using the waterborne guns.I do know that the tip must be very atomized like a 1.3 tip.Where you using the blowers that alow the base to dry in seconds????I can tell though in the pictures that the base dried awfully nice. How much was the waterborne Primer/Base????? Sorry for all the questions I haven't yet sprayed waterborne. Just want to know your pros/cons on waterborne technology.

ya the guns were the waterborne sata guns i dont know the model or anything and im 95% we are using the 1.4 tip. and after i shot the base we have the sata blower jet things and also the booths have whats called accelecure. and there are 4 fans on the top of the booth and when your ready to dry you turn them up to high and id say within 40 min it was ready to be tacked and cleared. i applied 3 coats of base and let it sit for roughly 10 min between coats. but ya it was my first time with waterborne and id say while i was laying down the 3 basecoats i was a lil nervous because i was shooting like a 75% overlap and it looked like complete **** to be honest. but i went and cleaned my gun and came back and saw the parts already dried and that **** layed down awesome
