So here's the deal.
I have this guy buy me a B18B motor/trans/ecu at a low cost. Motor is legit.. but it took him a month to get my car in his garage... so the thing just sat there. The motor has plugs in it blocking the spark plug holes / coolant / etc holes..
He's had my car for two weeks now and no progress has been made.
I hear that if you let a motor sit too long, rubber bits in it get crappy ( valve seals? ), oil inside gets crusty/gunky, etc..... considering this motor has been setting for a month and a half, has it been damaged??
I'm thinking i should just get the motor and my car back and have someone else do the swap, or at worst just sell the motor, but i dunno if it's worth anything...

i just picked up a 240sx that has been sitting for at least 3 years...once we replaced the starter and fixed some minor wiring stuff, it started right up and actually runs better than my hatch!! lol so im not sure who told you that but you cant let water get in it and if you do get it..change the oil and tune it up asap.
A motor can sit for years and still be fine as long as there is a little bit of oil in it. If its completely dry then it would be smart to change seals. Smart to change pumps whenever doing a swap.
As for the guy taking so long did you ask him why?

Okay.. that's good to know. I was kinda trippin out on the motor going to waste.
He says there is a lot of **** going on - moving - landlord not letting him work on cars in his garage - too busy - all sorts of crap. Bunch of bs.. he's a flake. I thought he was going to rip me off, too. But my car and the motor are still there. long story.
I wish you'd open up a franchise in SLO, luserkid
