b18b swap
I going to swap a b18b into an eg for the time being. I've never done a swap before and would like to learn and this motor seems pretty cheap and I would think would be an easier swap. Basically I want to start off with finding the motor. Where is a good place to find a low mileage quality b18b? It has to be a 93 or newer because thats when they switch to hydro trannys in integras.

Re: b18b swap (EGRacersInc)
hmotorsonline is a very good place to purchase a motor, my friend just got a b16a from them and it's clean as hell.. I beleive you can pick one up for 2200..

well you can never tell exactly what the milaege is by looking at it. if you buy a motor from a well known seller then you should be fine. hmotorsonline.com is a great place to order from. i have had nothing but great things to say about them.

Re: b18b swap (ebisu8)
that sounds good. I had a freind tell me that usdm motors are much easier because they are much easier to wire but generally have hihger miles then there jdm counterparts? Any truth to this?

Re: b18b swap (cbmprelude)
If you can find one in a junk yard you can check the mileage yourself. If you order it no one knows the exact mileage. I personally don't care what shape the wiring harness is in when i purchase a new engine, my junk yard usually torches them off. I use my d-series harness and extend a few plugs when needed

correct
The harness will work but some connectors will need to be extended

Re: b18b swap (Mr.RHTuner)
HMO (www.hmotorsonline.com) or IAS (www.importautosalvage), either place is great for getting used engines. The longblock + GSR tranny for $850 is a great deal, you most likely won't find something that cheap.

Re: b18b swap (sscguy)
that 850 sounds like a great deal can you link me to it? I can use the integra axles as well right, even if the car is significantly lowered?

Re: b18b swap (cbmprelude)
you can keep a/c if you get a dohc delsol or crv ac bracket. Your gas mileage will probably be from 23-30 mpg depending on the ecu and tranny you put with the engine. I averaged 24 around town with a 94 b18b, chipped ecu, and si tranny. The ls tranny would be better for gas mileage. At 75 mph i'm at 4,000 rpms in 5th gear.
