the driver torque mount isn't necessary unless you plan on getting A/C. if so, replace it.

not sure how the laws and insurances are in cali, but in FL, if there is any damage to the windshield, the insurance is supposed to repair it or replace it free of charge.
doing this will not allow the ins. to jack up yor premium either, it's the law!
so before you spend any money, call up your insurance and find out whether it's the same in cali too.

oh yeah, here there is no deductible here for a repair/replacement of the windshield.
but hey, doesn't hurt to try and ask. the worse they can say is no, then you're back to square one.

the insurance company only has to replace your windshield for free if you have glass coverage, and you had to have had the glass coverage before the damage was done to the glass. you can't just call up your insurance company and expect them to replace your windshield for free.
Well i called an its 200 bucks installed for a new one... and they wont repair it because its about the size of a buck and length of a buck as well... So ugh now i got to save 200 bucks

i honestly believe that you don't know what you are talking about. are you saying that under florida law, insurance companies are responsible for the replacement of all broken windshields, regardless of the coverage that is held by the insured? i am saying they only have to cover it IF the insured has glass coverage prior to the damage. you can't just buy a car with a broken windshield and expect the insurance company to pay for it.

No, I know exactly what i am talking about!
i wouldn't expect you to understand since you don't live in FL.

yes. speaking through experience here.
my first situation, a few years back a tornado hit my side of town, luckily there was no major damage in my neighborhood, but i had a ceramic shingle hit my windshield on my 96 kia sephia. i called the insurance co. and they came out to my house and fixed it, free of charge (or premium).
my second situation was on my 93 hatch. when i purchased it there were marks on the windshield where someone had shot at it with a pellet gun. called the insurance co. and told them what my windshield looked like. they sent i repair guy out and at first the tried to seal them with resin, but after awhile the marks reappeared, so i called back and again they replaced it free of charge.
in the state of FL, if there is any damage to the windshield, whether it is done by vandalism, accident, force of nature, they will replace it, IT'S THE LAW!
now, that only covers the windshield. so if any door windows or rear glass is broken to vandalism or robbery, expect to pay a deductible if you go with the ins.
