Steering rod ends
how big of a job is ti to replace these?
I was getting my alignment done and the mech. noticed that I needed new ones. Not even sure how you can tell when they are worn....but I've got to get em.
So anyone else had to do this??

The steering tie rods are used to adjust the toe on the front suspension. He probably noticed that he couldn't get the toe within spec or it was fluctuating too much.
I'm in the process of replacing the tie rods too. Honda OEM tie rods are about $30 to $35 a piece. The local Honda dealer ($65 labor rate) quote me $55 to replace it, but it was with an aftermarket piece from Napa or Carquest.
If you wanna DIY, you'll need a 19mm and I believe a 20mm or 21mm open-end wrenchs, a Pitman Arm Puller, pliers to pull out the cotter pin, 17mm socket, and possibly a breaker bar to fit over the 20/21mm wrench.
You can rent the Pitman Arm Pulley from Autozone for $20, fully refundable.
The hardest part is getting the 20/21mm tie rod locknut broken loose. After that, it's a piece of cake.
