Grind in 2nd
Hey guys I have a 07 si sedan. I have injen CAI and a hondata reflash. When I'm revving at like 8700rpm, from first to second my gears are grinding real bad it wont go into second after a few seconds. so I went to my honda dealer to fix it. and told them it was grinding gears at a high rpm like I BSed them sayin I was shifting at 7000-7500rpm. So they took a look and then said that I abuse my car and they wont cover it. They then went to say that if I continue it will void my warrenty. So I called coperate to complain that they wouldnt fix my car under warrenty. So that is where it is now. ANy answers will help thanks a lot...........

Why are you taking it up to 8700 RPM in first gear? Just curious, but are you drag racing, or something? Have you installed a performance clutch? I wouldn't recommend shifting at high RPM in lower gears if you haven't installed a performance clutch. To be honest, I wouldn't recommend shifting at 8700 RPM at all. LOL. Maybe it's just me, but I think you should take better care of your new car. Just a suggestion.

Timing and patience. I had that problem to when I shifted at high rpms. First I thought it was the car.....but then I realized my hand was moving faster than my foot.....so I was shifting before the clutch was pressed in all the way. In time it went away and I don't get the second gear grind anymore even when I shift at redline.
And as far as covering your warranty there's really not much help you will get from that department. If they tap the ECU they will be able to tell that you were revving the car beyond it's limits and that you were lying to them.
But I really think that you just need a little more practice in high rpm shifting and the problem should go away. If not.....then you've already messed up the gears.

If that's the case you might wanna let Hondata know about that issue. Could be potentially catastrophic in the future.
