Default DX EK (D16Y7) aftermarket cats? What do people use?

That damn cat is impossible to get in universal.

I was looking around and it seems the solution is to replace the exhaust manifold with a standard manifold and cat.

I was considering getting one of those cheap stainless headers on ebay and a univeral cat.

Is there another solution?

I am not a honda expert by any stretch, but on my 96 ek hatch with a y7 i put a 96-00 oem d16y8 welded tube 4-2-1 header that i picked up for $15 in front of a $100 2.5" "eastern high flow" cat off of ebay for the 96-00 ex and lengthened the rear o2 sensor wires. I picked up a cat back from a 99-00 si for $25- it needed a little tweaking to put on but it fit. the tweaking cost $30 at my local muffler shop. $170 later and the car pulls harder. 5 h.p & 5 fp-tq on my butt dyno.

the ex oem tube header is f ing amazing piece of manufacturing engineering. I am a mechanical engineer by trade. I know aftermarket stuff flows better but what a piece of cnc welding. One of the reasons i love messing with my honda is that it is like taking a class in manufacturing engineering. but i digress.
