Default Cat Converter for 97 EK hatch ?

I have a 97 EK hatch with the stock cat in it that keeps cracking and I'm tired of it. I want to put smog legal headers(dc's maybe) and a cat underneath. Can I do this legally ? Which cat can I use ? Would I need to extend wiring so the 2nd o2 sensor will be able to reach ?

Cat "cracking"? What does that mean? Is the inside of the cat rattling loose or is the cat housing itself cracked? What's causing the cracking?

Nothing like spending $$$ to replace parts and never addressing the issue that caused them to fail in the first place.

I have the cat that comes right out of the exhaust manifold. The metal cracks right in the middle between the #2 & #3 exhaust ports, right above the O2 sensor, not inside or anything like that. This is the 2nd cat this has happened to for me. I don't know how you would "address the issue." Maybe you can google EK catalytic crack so you can see what I'm talking about.

Ah...your manifold is cracking...kinda like a common deal no? I have a cat off my 95 CX that should work... But you need another Mani off an HF or CX. The HX ones seem to crack easier.

Was cleaning out my garage... You can have the lower portion of my old CX exhaust manifold/catalytic converter for FREE. I'm keeping the manifold for my DIY turbo setup.
