or can i just swap the whole shock/strut assemby i to my ek

Both the springs and the entire spring & damper assembly will swap right over, but they will raise your car rather than lower it.

My thoughts exactly. H&R OE Sport, Tein S.Tech, Eibach Pro Kit, etc. are all mild springs that will provide a lower ride height without severely compromising the ride quality.
Or, alternately, you could use your stock springs on a set of Koni 8041-Sport dampers with the circlip set in the lower groove.
