EK springs/shocks into EG, any issues?
Just mulling over the idea of picking up a 93 hatch, just for a project car. I was wondering if using springs and shocks from a 96+ Civic would cause any problems. Specifically my APEXi WS's from my 00 coupe. I'd like to save some dough and just be able to transfer them over to the hatch when I get it, but would it just be better to go with a new set designed for the hatch? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I am wondering the same thing. When i installed my g/fs suspension it seemed like the only difference between the "EG" and EK lower shock mount was narrower. I'm thinking you may be able to grind/sand/cut the rubber part of the lca shock mount bushing and it may fit.

I have EK Konis on my 1992 hatch.
Here's what you do:
Fronts fit 100% perfect, no problems there.
Rears? The EK has a more narrow lower "fork" on each strut so the lower control arm bushing will need to be trimmed so that the lower "forks" on the EK struts will slide over them.
Very easy, not big deal to do.
Other than that it's all the same.

Cool, thanks for the tip. I suspected the rears would be a problem, I kind of knew the fronts would be ok, my friend had used tegs on his 94 coupe. I think if I have to do any shaving, Ill just go with a new set of coilovers instead, I can be kind of **** and I probably couldn't bring myself to chop something up to fit. Maybe I can upgrade from the WS's in the process...perhaps the N1's?
Thanks for the info.

Well you don't shave the struts themselves, but just the rear LCA bushing that the through-bolt goes through that holds the lower strut fork in. Takes 10 minutes per if you have a grinder, and you'll never see the ginds once they are sandwiched by the strut fork.

u wont have any problems with spring rates even though the EG is lighter then the EK there should not be any problems with this regard. I have eibach pro-kits on my EJ (basically a EK) civic and they are also the exact same set of springs that will fit a ITR and EG Civic too!!
