Default Precision GT3076R versus true Garrett GT3076r - compressor housing question

I'm trying to help out a friend that is doing a s2000 custom turbo setup. He has an inline pro manifold and a precision gt3076r. His appears to have a 3" inlet unlike my 4" inlet anti-surge. No biggie.

The problem is that the compressor housing is hitting the subframe rail on the passanger side. We orgianlly had a gt35r and it wouldn't even bolt up it was so large. Inline pro confirmed you can't use the gt35 without knotching the frame. He didn't want to do this and they said the gt30r would work fine and ordered another turbo.

The precision gt3076r compressor housing touches the frame and when we pulled on the motor simulating torque movement it would rub bad.

Is there a differnce in compressor housing sizes on the precision and garrett units?

I'm waiting on a call back from precision to confirm but thought someone on here might have a answer a little bit quicker.

Precision called back:

Alex@Precision said that the compressor housings are the same size diameter no matter what inlet you have. He said they should also be the same as the Garrett units. He thinks what might cause it to hit is that on a .82 turbine housing it will cause the compressor to sit out away from the manifold maybe an extra 5/8th of an inch versus a .63

Possibly Inline pro was using a .63 a/r turbo when they said the gt30r would fit no problem without knotching the frame?

We don't want to change turbos because the downpipe is already made and so is the piping for the PWR water/air setup.

Either way, we are going to make this work somehow and hopefully have some pics/dyno charts of a sick AP1 gt30r custom turbo setup.

Figured someone on here would have some insight about the turbos...

For the record, we found out the only turbo that will fit without knotching the frame is a precision gt30R with a B-cover housing.

This turbo is only good for 450whp which is not what he wanted so we ended up knotching the frame to make it fit. It wasn't as bad as we thought once we got it cut out and now a GT35R will fit without problems if he wants to upgrade.

clock the turbo to get more clearance... mock it up with the gasket on it... Other than that I'd say you have a "bad manifold"

We made it work. Knotched the frame which wasn't that bad. Then took the peice we cut out and bent it and welded it back in. Put a little silver paint back on it and you can't really tell it wasn't that way from the factory. We even test fitted a gt35 and it will clear as well if he decides to upgrade.

Now if hondata would just get there **** together and send the right ecu/kpro we'd be good to go. Someone messed up reading the paperwork which in turn led to them soldering the ecu incorrectly... Always something!
