The other day I located a B18C1 swap that had been in a junkyard for a while. The owner of the junkyard was not really aware of what it was, and he sold me the complete swap for $400 dollars. I noticed that it had crower adj. cam gears, but thought nothing of it really. When I get it home and apart, I noticed that the entire valve train was crower...well at least the cams, springs and retainers. Any way, after I took the cams out I noticed a few very small grooves in the cams. Does this mean that the cams are ruined? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
You'll have to be a little more specific about the grooves. Are they pitted into the metal and are they on the lobes or journals? A picture would be your best bet next to mic'n them to make sure they are ok.
P.S. I'll give you $500
