My b16 blew... considering options. b20 perhaps.
Hi guys, well it was a nice 5 years with my jdm b16 eg. I think a rod broke. Piston flew up and knocked spark plug out of head. I really dont know what kind of damage is done. I do know there is bottom end damange. Timing belt seems to be fine. This is my winter beater to my VW GTI.
Considering a b20... I know I could re-use the tranny and mounts. I assume the axles too. I have a chipped obd1 p28 Can i use my intake manifold? What about the shift linkage? Do i still need the LS ECU? FYI the chassis is a vx with vs wiring. ( i added the few wires for the b16 ecu) Insight and advice appreciated. Ill post a pic of the carnage.

I knew that was coming. I probably wont mess with that. I need to keep the reliability factor up. haha

Haha, I'm a n00b
But honestly, B20/VTEC motors can be just as reliable as any other. Plus the blocks are cheap, and the GE conversion kit is too.
Shift linkage will be fine, and that P28 will come in handy too.
How bad is it?

It's look like a loose spark plugs that come out
Check the compression and if it OK just put a new plug back in the hole. (helicoil if the tread is damage)
