That's too bad...i saw a "generalized" brake FAQ.

Thing is, I'd like to know how to properly change my front brake pads and remove rotor to have it serviced.

Would you recommend somewhere to look to get a good idea of how to do this?

Thanks T.A.!

My GF used to have an '03 Accord and I've installed pads on that car. There's nothing to it really. Just take the wheel off, and loosen one bolt on the back of the caliper to open it and replace the pads. If you want to do the rotors, just unbolt the calipers from the bracket and slide the brake rotor off the hub.

well, here is a writeup from a 6th gen Accord. The basic steps are the same, the socket sizes and torque specs maybe slightly different but it gives you a good idea of what you need to do.

Pad Replacement
Rotor Replacement

also, here is an exploded parts view of your front and rear brakes.
Front

Rear

Besides a set of basic hand tools, you'll need a special tool to turn the rear caliper pistons in. You can get them at most any auto parts store, they look like this...

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1...brake
You'll also want an impact driver to get the 2 screws out of each face of the rotor. I use this...

Hope that helps you

I'm sure that'll help him, and that's the kind of thing that should be in the FAQ threads.

How does that little box tool work?

I did my rear's on my 6th gen and they said use needle nose pliers. It was a pain in the ****.

the cube tool has six sides - each with a different pattern to match up with specific manufacturer's rear brakes. There are square holes on each side to accommodate 3/8" ratchets. Find the side that fits in your brake piston and then stick your 3/8 ratchet in the opposite side, and turn.

Touring Accord:

You're post here is an excellent help thank you! I was hoping that you could check your links, because the link for "Pad Replacement" and "Rotor Replacement" is the same. I do need some pointers and the torque settings for removing and replacing the rotor.

Thank you!

Thank you kindly for the link update!

Who/what would you recommend for a replacement rotor?

I'm purchasing a genuine honda pad set, but was thinking of machining the rotors.

If you are going to replace the rotors, I would get some Brembo blanks. I have always been pleased with those rotors.

If your rotors have enough material to be turned down and you can get it done for cheap then go ahead. I usually just replace the rotors because it doesn't always cost that much more and I dont have to wait for the old ones to be turned, just my personal preference though.

There was too much irrelevant to the G7/G8 Accord.

Thanks "TouringAccord" for the write up and help!

I followed your instructions, and along with an oem set of pads, everything went perfectly smoothly.

I had the rotors turned but will need to have them fully replaced next round i do brakes according to the guy who turned them for $20/both. (this North Hollywood suspension and brake shop was fantastic, ps)

LASTLY -

I think I need to flush my brake fluid though, it looked a little dirty in the reservoir.

Any special instructions, materials, i should know about.

Thanks again!
