Default Need Clutch. Go Far.

Alright, just picked up my 02 DC5 S yesterday. Love it thus far, but the people that had it before me we're selling it because they can't drive stick... thus, clutch was pretty gone. It still drives but it lacks the ability to accelerate quickly (the clutch slips and the revs skyrocket). Anyways, I need a clutch soon. I have looked at Exedy, Clutchmasters, and ACT. Not sure which would be best (or should I go stock?)

My question is, I need whichever one is going to last the longest. I need 50K+ miles out of it at least. I really dont drive that hard (no major stop and go traffic, very little clutch dropping).

Also, I've seen the clutch changing guides and such, how difficult is this for someone of about average mechanical ability, and how much time does it take?

From your other posts it looks like you dont want any big power so just install a stock clutch. I have one for sale I'll give it to u for cheap if you want. If you have the proper tools and this is your first time I would give yourself atleast 1 full day.

Seems like higher miles than I want on a clutch. I don't want to do a day long job only to have to do it again within a year. Thanks though guys!

if you are trying to get a clutch with very low miles on it, your best bet is to buy a new one. A clutch lasts as long as the driver doesn't pound on it every time. Don't buy ACT they are garbage. My preference is competition clutch.

Yeah CC makes good stuff, but do they make a decent street clutch? I don't really want anything higher than a stage one... I'm lookin for the stock feel.

Looks pretty good.

Someone mentioned I should replace the flywheel too? Why? I wouldn't think a 50k mile flywheel would need to be replaced. But if I should I will go ahead and do it all in one swoop.

Im looking into Competition Clutch kits (clutch and fly). They have a Stage 1 kit for $350 and a Stage 2 Kit for $495. That's the price on their website I'm sure I can get them cheaper. These kits come with a forged steel flywheel, im guessing thats good enough?
