VIN location Accord 95 made in USA
Hi,
I need help.
I own Honda accord CE1 body with F22B1 engine, manufactured in 1995 by Honda USA which I bought and imported from Japan last year. I have tried to located the VIN on obvious places as described in different manuals but it is no where to be seen.
Any was in this situation, and how did you solve it?
Thanks in advance,
Blaise

Should be on the registration slips that you got when you bought it. Did you get registration papers when you bought it? Has the VIN plate been removed from the front dash location (visible from the outside of the vehicle on the drivers side bottom of the windshield). There should also be one stamped into the firewall of the car. If both of those are missing I would say that is no coincidence and that it is most likely a stolen vehicle.
Twixle and GhostAccord, thank you for your replies; this is helpful. As both VIN are nowhere to be seen, I must say I am disappointed...
I am located in East africa region, and this car was bought last year directly from Japan - a big exporter. Any advice on this. Was wondering to contact the exporter.
Thanks

I would contact the person / company that sold you the car. or the company that exported it to East Africa for you. They should have all the info if it was a legit export.

I don't really see why that'd matter?
He imported the car from Japan that had been imported from the US.
He didn't import a JDM accord to the US.
So I'm going to imagine the car followed Japanese regulations and there would be no "VIN" number but rather the odd Kanji plate somewhere on the crossbeam

From the exporter I received an email saying this: " All vehicles being used in Japan has no VIN numbers . We can use the Chassis numbers (as a vehicle's identification )".
As you can imagine I wonder if this is true. Anyone can confirm this?

Are you 100% that this is a made in the USA Accord and not a JDM? <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Fobtions »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">the only vin on a japanese model car is on the firewall and above the headlight.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Well, this right hand Accord has 2 eagle's logos after both rear doors with mention "Wagon of America". Chassis number starts with CE1- ; there is label saying "Honda of America" under the windshield and on top of the right light component.
Where I supposed find VIN as other also have said above, I only find the chassis number.
Is it possible that this was manufactured by HOA for JDM? But my question remains: can anyone confirm this statement from my exporter that JDM cars use only chassis number as identification AND not VIN system?
Thanks

Nope what the dealer sent you sounds 100% correct.
To my knowledge, the cars running with the HoA badges are originally made in the US then shipped out, if you look at the tag on the side of the door, or the original dealer price tag, it should tell you exactly where it was manufactured
And yes, JDM cars do not have VIN numbers, just the Chassis ID (refer to the people who swap the "EG6" or "CD6" tags to their frame for the JDM look.
So sounds like you're fine.
I'd check on the tag on the door frame (driver's side) and see if it says manufactured in US, assembled in Japan, or something along those lines.

Are you just wanting the original question answered, or are you a one hit wonder bot?
CE1(wagon) and CD7(coupe) cars were built here in the US and exported to Japan and Europe.
All those kewl JDM bits you see on those cars were most likely installed in Ohio. Kinda strange stuff.
As for VIN for JDM vehicles, they don't have one.
They have serial numbers that are on the firewall, radiator support, and maybe on the doorjamb sticker.
CB Accords had a plate riveted to the rad support and the shock tower, CD/CE models may have similar locations.
Have a CB1, it has 'CB-1' and then the serial number, which would be the last serial digits on a VIN. Makes it pretty simple. But can be a PITA when looking up stuff via Registration as in Europe the JDM serial is also considered 'incomplete' for parts searches.
USDM vehicles will have 1HG(indicating USDM built in USA), this is foregone on JDM vehicles. Then it will have the body type CE1(indicating Accord Wagon) . And then the middle grouping of numbers, which I think identifies trim level but most importantly it has a check digit that verifies the VIN is authentic. And finally the last six digits are the serial number of the car.
You could hack together what the VIN of the car might have been if it had stayed in the US, but it will not be a valid VIN just a made up(illegal) VIN.
Best is to bring your car to the Troopers/DMV/whoever handles registering imported vehicles, and have a state assigned VIN attached to your vehicle. California does this with imported or vehicles with damaged/stolen VIN cars. They may accept the JDM serial number as a VIN,
