Default 96 civic with no reverse lights

I have a 96 civic ex with the manual tranny and it does not have reverse lights i tried to replace the switch, bulbs and still no reverse lights has any one on honda tech ran into the same problem and fixed it if so can you give me some info on how to fix it, one more thing is there a way where i can test the wiring from the switch to the lights?

having the same issue, but, my reverse light stays on when i put in a new light bulb

by-pass the switch and run power to the lights.

When mine were out, it was the reverse switch "sensor" on top of the tranny. The previous one was permently smooshed in on itself. The "new" one was screwed in and works fine to this day.

weird question, but has it always been manual? Meaning, did someone convert it from auto to manual?

yeah the car has always been manual straight from the factory, i just cant find the problem, ive done auto to manual before in my 94 civic and i got that one to work.

does it have a neutral safety switch in the manaul civic? if so where is it located at?
