Drivers side axle wont pop out.
Ok I am at the last stage of removing my drivers side axle (its hanging freely and out of the hub). I cannot get it to pop out of the half shaft, I have tried tapping it out, and I cannot get a crow bar to grip for prying. Any recommendations?

No, so I need to get the axle completly level?

I had this same issue before and I ended up taking out the intermediate (half-shaft) with axle attached. I put IM shaft in a vice and worked the axle out with a prybar.

If your at the point you are then its only three more bolts and the **** will be in your lap. But if i were you get the car up higher and get to prybars and put some muscle behind it. Spray some WD-40 in the spline to help slide out.

14mm. No, you don't have to drain the tranny fluid. But for piece of mind you could replace the axle seals while the axles are out. It sucks to get everything back together only to find that they are leaking.

Ok here is what just went down, got the 3 bolts that hold the half shaft off and yanked that hoe right out, tranny fluid came spilling out everywhere out of the gapping hole haha. Grabbed a liquid catcher and cussed a few times, then I held the half shaft in the air with the left hand and smacked the axle with a mini sledge in my right hand 2 hits and the axle broke loose falling to the ground, I yelled out YOUR DONE SON!!! Then laughed at it. Ok I now need to get some tranny fluid, a new axle, and the seals. Got another question though, what is the trick for getting the new axle on?
should all go together nicely... i put some wheel bearing grease in there but its not needed. just reverse from removal. i had the same problem in spring. i used the sledge hammer method. worked like a charm.
hehe you didnt think to drain the fluid before pulling the axle?
glad you got it out. yeah the cv is a right hooker to get apart from the half shaft.

Thats why, lesson learned though trial by fire works for me. So the new axle should slip right on to the half shaft? I went ahead and put the half shaft back up and loosely bolted it down so the transmission was not sitting with a gapping hole for a couple days.

He left out the part about having the car jacked up pretty high on that side. I have done this without having to drain the fluid.
But this will only work on one side at a time.
Be careful when you install the new seal, in fact make sure they gave you the correct seal before you remove the old one. Trust me I've been given the wrong seal more then once.
Use some flat like the flat side of a 2X4 to install the new seal.
