CA BAR? SMOG?
So I have a feeling any day now I'm gonna get pulled over by stockton PD and b hasseled cause of there **** profiling. Anyway I have Comptech headers CARB, AEM short ram CARB, older skunk2 intake manifold, that resembles the type r one, with stock throttle body, basically the manifold looks stock and cops cant tale, it's bigger. Will I be ok to pass?
If you got all the carb oe stickers and numbers on any aftermarket part you got, you should be fine. Also, don't have a breather filter on your valve cover instead of the hose that runs to the intake and don't have an adjustable FPR, that is also illegal here in cali.

ahhh i remeber those days in cali,it sucked hahaah, ya you basically gotta have carb stickers and junk, i live in nc now and cops dont have a clue or give a crap, cali sucks, i had all carb #'s and stickers when i lived in cali, cuz if you dont, state ref for you man, me and my buddies always had tricks and always fooled the cops, you wanna no more PM me
You'll be ok if you have all the carb stickers and I wouldn't worry about the intake manifold. The best way for them not to pop the hood is to not drive like an ***. Follow the traffic laws and you won't have any problems.

Geez man I'm tired of hearing all this CA bashing on this forum. Yeah, I get it, CA is restrictive when it comes to emissions. Big deal! CA is an enormous state with lots of people and lots of economic activity. It needs regulations to keep the whole thing from getting out of control.
I plug through 2 hours of traffic every day in my Integra and I'm glad I'm not inhaling any more fumes than what there already is. Some of you folks should consider changing your viewpoint on the whole CARB thing.
Obviously this is not as big an issue in a less-populated state. Enjoy your clean air out there - we have to pay a dear price in CA to get ours cleaner.

The old style skunk2 manifold is CARB legal as well. You should be able to email skunk2 and get one mailed to you. When you bought the manifold, it was probably still CARB pending but it eventually passed.

Damn I had no idea. I guess that means air quality regs aren't far behind in NC then...
So I guess the moral of the story is "enjoy it while you can"...

If you get pulled over, they can still send you to state ref for just having modifications on your car. Since you have CARB legal parts (assuming they're for your make/model of your car), then you shouldn't be worried about passing smog. I have the same mods, including a high flow cat, apexi n1 catback, and a ctr intake cam...passed smog twice with this set up.
Here is the thing, i dont have stickers for the intake manifold its an old skunk2 that looks like a type r so you cant tell what so ever, will they notice it?????
i have a free flow with apexi exaust, but no carbs for it so i will just save trouble and put a stock exhaust on it.

If the cop is good, and looks at the hose diagram under your hood if you have one, and spots that the intake and hoses aren't hooked up correctly, you'll get sent to the ref, and if they see any aftermarkte part pertaining to fuel, air, or emissions that doesn't have a carb oe sticker or number you'll get sent to the ref, just play it smart and don't break the law unless you have the time, money and patience to deal w/ the state ref, then go to court to take care of any fines/tickets.

same thing as me....the apexi exhaust doesnt have any carb numbers that I can find. It just needs to read lower than a certain decibel reading. My skunk2 IM is also the first gen one with out the carb number. No one has ever said anything about it since it looks stock.

Again, like i said previously, if the cop is good, and knows what to look for, he/she will look at the hose diagram under your hood which I think by law is required here in CA now, and if they see hoses T or not hooked up where they should they will give you ref ticket. Don't ask how I know
