Default ?'s about buying a used carbon fiber hood

Some of you may have seen my thread about my accident. Well anyways someone local is selling a used cf hood that I'm going to look at tomorrow. I've never dealt with cf hoods before and really don't know much. Is there anything specific I should look for to make sure its good, or brands I should stay clear of?

Brand name is good for good base quality, to allow for proper fitment. Here are some good brands.

ViS- Good. Got some blemishes, but good
Seibon- Good. More expensive, but fewer fitment issues brought to my attention.

Now, that's not to say that they will fit your car no matter what. Those brand names just mean that the quality is high enough to be able to be fitted well to your car. It may take some work to get it to fit just right, but these are of the two brands that I always looked into when I was shopping for a carbon hood, and had mostly good reviews.

Be sure to check the corners for cracks, and maybe even ask the seller if you can test fit it.

A lot, in fact most, of those after market hoods fit like crap.

The main i'd check though is to make sure the clear coat still looks good and is in tact.

thanks guys. He's also got a stock hood for sale too so I'm also going to look at that just in case the cf one isn't good.

+1
Steves cf hood didnt fit right at first, at second too. Its much better now but it required a lot of messing around w/ the mounts.
When i got my hood, it didnt fit right at all, low spots, high spots, slid over, close on one side, far on the other.

Ask if you can test fit, and if you like the fitment, check for the above^.

Or you can go jdm front

well the dude has a stock and a cf. He's going to let the cf go cheap, was thinking of maybe having it paint matched. But I can always just grab the stock one from him.
