Default Ecu fuse keeps blowing

Hi,

I need some advice or tech help. I have a B18C in my 94HB. I just got done upgrading the fuelrail to an aftermarket one. I turn the key to number 2 and noticed that I don't hear my fuel pump. I checked all my fuses and the ecu fuse under the hood is blown. I replaced it with another 15 amp and tried that again and the same thing happened. Anyone encountered this problem before or know some kind of remedy?

Any input is appreciated.

That is what I was going to do at first, but thought this never happened before. Something is shorting out the Ecu.

Do you have a VAFC? those thing cause a lot of probs, check it first.
And be sure all the ground straps are tight.

I don't have a fuel controller or any other aftermarket electronics. I'll try checking all of my ground connections, thanks.

Check to make sure your 2ndary O2 sensor isn't grounding against the body. Unplug it and see if it still blows fuses. Just happened to me.

Also try the PGM-FI relay and VSS sensor.

You mentioned that you just installed a new fuel rail. Check to make sure that you did not pinch any of the wires going to the injectors or any of the sensors.

From what you are describing it sounds like you are 'grounding out' a wire.

I would follow sackdz's advice and check both the primary and secondary O2 wires.

It is real hard to diagnose problems over the internet. Especially electrical problems. The suggestions I gave you are just speculation but the symptoms you have indicated led me to give you this information.

Good luck.

You can also check if both battery connectors are tight.
BTW do not install a higher rated fuse to solve your problem, you run the chance of frying something a lot more expensive then a 15 amp fuse.

Yes, this is very true. Be very very worried if you run a higher rating fuse. Basically fuses kick in and the connection "breaks" if the rating thats going thru is a lot more than just lets say, 15-20 amps...if you upgrade this to like a 25 amp fuse, then you would prevent the fuse from blowing, but then you have all that more current surging through, which is what JPP is talking about.

like sackdznuts mentioned above, its most likely a grounding problem from what you describe. I dont know why he mentioned vss sensor.

He mentioned the VSS sensor because when the secondary O2 heater circuit shorts out it is on the same circuit as the VSS, and it blows...causes a few other problems, but the car will still run.
