Vibration during acceleration
Hi you guys, new to HT. Ive been here before numerous times and benefited with helpful insights from knowledgeable members. I have a question about vibration during acceleration in my newly acquired 95 LS Special Edition coupe. I recently changed the axles for new ones since the passenger side was making the clunking noise. Now that i have the new axles on its been solid except for the vibration. Any thoughts?

I would say mainly the steering wheel and front part of the car. I had the tires balanced as well. Took out the strut and rear tower bars. Still vibrating as if the axles are wobbly. Ive read many threads that sound similar to my situation and it seems to be the axle. I just hate to swap it out after you just did the job if it turns out to be crappy axles (autozone).
Me my buddy and my bro all have the same problem when were on top end or slowing down from around 90-100+ we couldnt figure it out for the longest time turned out it wasnt just us 3 either, we replaced our axles and got new master cylanders put in, hoping that would fix it , and it helped but didnt stop it. Some people just say its a random thing most integras do??

i have same problem you can solve this in these ways: do an alighment, make sure you have good tires and balanced, and if not its most likey your wheel hubs, like me was wheel hub

New axles

Most importantly, what axles did you use? If you used any of the auto parts stores, the chances are the axles are out of balance.
If you search, you will see that this is a common problem with reman. axles.
Try a place like raxles.com They are relatively cheap, and offer a lifetime warranty. I had them when on my old Integra, and didn't vibrate one bit.

Its the axles, we race with lifetime warranty ******** from napa and they have the same problem. The lack of quality usually results from axles that arent properly balanced like an OEM honda axle would. Either try returning the axles or just get used to it lol.

The vibration does not come on until i get past 20mph+ and usually by the time i get to 2nd gear. Also I can be going say 40 to 50mph on 4th then i put it on neutral and the vibration disappear while coming to a rolling stop. So i know it cant be the alignment and I just got all four balanced.

I might just shell out for oem honda axles

Gotta look into the wheel hubs situation cus the tires are good to go along with balancing.

lolz - "get used to it" is exactly what my buddy said. I will try to get the driver side OEM Honda axle tomorrow and slap it on when i get off work. Curious to see if and im hoping is the only side thats making the vibration.

Yep thats exactly what my brothers DA does just after we replaced his axles with new ones from NAPA. Once we snap them on the 1320 we'll get him some new ones lol
Bad wheel hubs will make a groaning noise and normally will not cause an intense vibration like you are describing. Also, shifting the weight of the vehicle will alter the noise of a wheel hub. Dont bother

The OEM's are now remans. They do not sell them as new cores. Like I said, try raxles.com or the driveshaftshop.com

Thanks for the info. These remans can be a crapshoot (i've already had 1 reman replaced again).

I have a shake coming through the whole front of my car when I accelerate 1st-3rd. I've replaced the stearing rack, inner&outer tie rod ends, upper&lowwer (skunk2 arms) ball joints, both axles, wheel bearings, hasport mounts, and springs&struts. I used all brand new parts, had 4 alignements, and wheels balanced perfect, yet it still shakes. Any ideas?

i had a same problem with my civic, i thought it was the front but i started re doing my entire suspension and when i got to the rear and pulled the tire off i went to take the camber off and found that the bolt had snapped and was barely holding everything together... instead of falling out it got stuck... so id say check front and rear and make sure no bolts are missing or broken or that nothings lose...

No, it's not a salvage title, and I have had on the alignement rack 4 times now for the front and back. I myself have also been under it because my friends own the shop. But I've yet to take the rear apart, I'll try that next.
ever ran a carfax to see if its been in an accident maybe... sounds like every component in the front is new lol. I just fixed a shimmy for a customer today that was caused by an excess amount of sand and mud caked to the inside of the wheel causing it to be unbalanced lol.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I decided to buy OE CV boots and cleaned out the original axle (driver side). So then I removed the Autozone axle in hopes that its the driver side thats making the vibrations. Installed back the original axle with the new boots and whalla!!! Its smooth and quiet
Even though my passenger side is still an autozone brand, its not making any vibration or any noise. Eventually i will search for a good used OEM passenger side axle because my old one was broken , hence why i decided to just change both with the autozone brand. Thanks to all those who helped me diagnose this problem.
