Default motor problems with b16 da

got a DA integra LS today, has a b16A , smokes black out of the exhaust, what is black smoke caused from? im replacing the head gasket regardless, along with other gaskets, also vtec doesnt kick in , it was rewired but i think they didnt do it right, i just got back and havent taken time to look or adress these issues, lmk what u guys think, im going out to take a look/ clean interior, pics up soon, also idles weird, sometimes gotta gas it or it will die, i am new to B series, as i have always had a D, but like dirty rice says, its time to put the d series in the bed .....lol ok enough of me. Black smoke, mixture is rich. If its more on the blue side then its definitely oil in the cylinder(s)

its a pr3, i was thinking the same thing, i put in my ecu and it does the same thing, it fixed some things because his ecu sucked ***** but mine throws the code for a map sensor and a mechanical issue, it runs funny, either way im gonna change all the gaskets and take a look inside obviously to see what else possibly wrong there is, and obviously attend the issues given by the ecu codes, either way its a swap and seats etc....i can sell them for the value of my crx along with the other minor crap thats in the car, i dunno ill keep you all posted with pics etc of everything, thanks for all of the input, i gotta trade these seats tho......i hate them......

Running rich. The car could be in limp mode, which would most likely be an o2 sensor. Or, if it has an adjustable regulator, it might be set to high. Or larger injectors with a larger fuel pump.

I wouldnt start parting the car out quite yet I like it minus the seats like you said.. but it looks like it has potential just needs a little tlc. I'd get a manual or some other wiring diagram and trace those wires and get the proper ecu if you didn't already... if it still doesnt run right you might be able to take it to a tuner even though you shouldnt have to... fix all the sensors that are throwing codes, i've have unplugged sensors cause the car to run rich, goodluck keep us updated

If your car is running rich...and you plug in an ECU and it says "map sensor fault"....maybe it's a map sensor fault? Are the MAP and TPS plugs switched? Are the CTS and VTEC solenoid plugs switched?

Why are you replacing all the gaskets? Are they leaking? Dont fix what isn't broken...you might end up breaking something in the process. This theory goes especially for the head gasket. Why change that if it's perfectly good? There's no head gasket interval....just wait till it blows...if it ever blows.

Fix what's wrong with it first man. THEN go for the other auxillary stuff. Try taking it somewhere to have it diagnosed. It may pay off in the end. You dont have to deal with a headache..and you're not blindly throwing parts at it.

BTW, you have a vacuum leak....unless you plugged the GIANT barb coming off your intake manifold. Check the pics. You'll see it. It's on the front of the manifold pointing at the FPR.

im just replacing what obviously needs to be fixed, if i see something else that may soon need to be maintained i just do it then and there as well, i did take that hose off, i couldnt stand it, just looking at it.

Nice trade man. MY first intagra was a 92 LS white with blue interior. With the interior cleaned up nice that blue looks really awesome. I got alot of comments on it, I wanted black at the time but it really grew on me. Ill post some pics b/c I miss her and for DA's!

Fart can came with it, not my doing. haha
