Tried looking at Magnaflow? I know they got the 4" stuff, fairly nice and price is reasonable too.

We're building one now for a customer on here that uses a big Borla muffler where the cat would normally be and the long burns muffler in the back. I did a back to back test between the 4" vibrant race muffler and the 4" burns and the Burns is actually a muffler, the vibrant just passes the rules that say you have to run a muffler. lol

yeah any of the diesel stuff would work too...not sure what vehicle its for, but some of them are pretty quiet for aftermarket stuff...i know spintech has 4" stuff, but i'm not sure how quiet it'll be...maybe do an electric cutout and go to a stock type exhaust after the cutout, 4" wide open with the ability to go quiet is pimp

For the longest of times I always thought the burns was just to pass the rules as well.

Between the borla and magnaflow I have heard. The borla was quieter with a more mellow sound. I would suggest just running two mufflers. A buddy of mine does this on his 700 hp M-coupe and it sounds great and makes good power.

I plan on doing the same.

J. R.

PS. I have heard the Burns mufflers in person and you are right. They actually do muffle the car!

4in is jumbo, but use an oval muffler with an offset straight through this allows more exhaust to travel into the packing without restricting flow. Magnaflow is really good

Are you from the Stamford area? I saw a white turbo'd DC2 with the same bumper cut outs once pulling it hard down High Ridge Rd. Just wondering if it was you.

Size will probably play a factor in droning at a certain RPM range due to velocity, but here is a video of my car running 3" Magnaflows on a Turbo 3L Cougar. Here are some pictures of the setup to give you an idea of where in the system the mufflers are:

Can't remember the exact specs, both mufflers are magnaflows. The first one in the system is an oval canister with quite a bit of packing material and a straight through perferated tube design ... both are like that and part of Magnaflow's "turbo" line.

Almost directly under me when I'm inside the car.

And now one 4" total height (1/2" height around 3" in/out) at the tail of the car.

Here is what it sounds like inside the car:

well scratch the vibrant then... maybe a resonator and a vibrant, maybe two vibrants will work ha.. for the price worth a try. I could weld the two together before we ship so you can try it out. Would be cool to weld a vband on there for you so you can swap mufflers fast until we find a good combo.
