i was advised by a well known tuner not to run this program on my car cuz of the timing issues in vtec. how many of you run this program and have no issues? my car was tuned on this and it lasted about two weeks before i put a hole in the piston
there are some reported timing issues with crome. but it seems to be when trying to run 15* or less when trying to make over 400+hp that is the issue.
it doesnt happen to all ecu's from what i hear. you need to ask more expeinced crome tuners......i dont use it.
so unless your setup was making 400+hp and it melted a piston i would be questioning the person who tuned it or have your fuel system checked out. if it was only one single piston have that injector checked. if it was all 4 then have you fuel pump checked........if the fuel pump and all injectors are ok and you are sure you had the right grade of fuel in the tank......then kick your tuner in the nuts

yeah, people keep starting myths about CROME's timing because they read threads but do not understand them,
CROME works great; but it requires a bit of massaging to get a basemap to run good.

Fortunately these issues are not myths. All stock honda code has a base timing advance built in. All programs handle timing differentely, and the way crome handles it seems to advance it a bit more than other programs. This is what I have noticed, but I have not touched crome since like version 1.8.

It was an issue, but is resolved now as far as i can tell. I've tuned cars on it before that were nowhere near 400whp yet would still detonate(using a listening device to tell) no matter how much timing i pulled in the maps and the car would not lose any power either so obviously timing wasn't pulled. Since then they came out with a new timing script that must be manually entered into the program everytime you make a map. With this script i havent had issues.
Even though its fixed i'd still get another program if you have the money. It still has some bugs here and there that are more annoyances than anything. If you dont have the money then its still not a bad alternative. Personally i switched to neptune now.

i believe its on one of the last pages of a thread xenocron posted about it not having timing issues. John Cui posts the script in the thread. If i had it on this computer i'd post it up. Basically you copy the writing, hit ctrl+k in crome and paste it in the box that pops up.

i think this is it...
for the timing fix. open up crome, enter CTRL+K and enter the following code
If you are using a P30 based rom:
Code:
_rom_fill(0x58e6, 0x590d, 0x00); _rom_fill(0x6a99, 0x6ac0, 0x00);
If you are using a P72 based rom:
Code:
_rom_fill(0x5f7b, 0x5fca, 0x00);
every new map u start u need to enter the above.

i was blasting a B-series @ 450hp/315tq on a pumpgas setup back in 06 and didnt have a problem with crome.
its simple and easy, and very easy on the wallet

20,000 kms on my motor this year with crome pro...
430whp on pump and just shy of 500whp on race gas... beatin at the track and daily driven, no issues at all
when my tuner started with the timing, he entered those values in before he started, im almost 100% positive

I'm running crome pro and I'm making 460whp pump gas on a daily driven integra. I've been running it now for about four months completely problem free. Crome is a great tuning program for what you pay for it.
You guys realize you can just take that code and shove it in the advanced boost tools plugin so any time you add advanced boost tools, it will also do that, right?
I'm feeling generous today so if someone posts the advanced boost plugin file, I'll add that little bit of code.

other than that, i found the link on pgmfi

1) Locate your advanced boost tools folder.
2) Locate the file named advBooster.js.
3) Rename it to advBooster2.js.
4) Save this file into the Advanced Boost Tools folder.
To test, open a P30 rom. Install Boost Tools. Save the file. Then go back into the Advanced Boost Tools folder. Change the file now named advBooster2.js to advBooster.js and the file advBooster.js to advBooster2.js. Go back into Crome and open a p30 rom. Install Boost Tools. Then manually insert the code as you did before with the control + k option. Save the file. Then download winhex. Open the two files in there and compare the files(it's an option). There should be 0 differences.

well after my car was tuned on crome pro. it blew a ringland after 2 weeks, immasuming because of the timing issue in vtec. afr was 11.2 across the board and 10 degrees of timing at 10 psi. stock b16

Why the hell are you running 10* at 10psi? Sounds like a shitty tune job. Timing should be closer to 18*.

i agree.......to much timing retard is just as bad as to much advance.......i don't think your tuner understands that.

yea it was kind of a shady tuner. havent been able to get a hold of him since the car was tuned 3 months ago. he wasnt sure what the base timing was cuz he didnt have a timing light.
