Default Best Radar?>

hello, I find my self always going 75+ on the freeway here in the bay area(CA)

i am wondering if anyone knows what a good Radar company is and also the price range?

I really do not want to get a ticket for going 70 MPH

Good radar company? Escort, Valentine, or beltronics. You cant go wrong with any on them. I prefer Escort, I had a 8500 and it had great reception and hardly ever false reported. It had a ton of features.

I also have an Escort 8500x... Great range, and no falses. Ever.

Or you could be really ballin' and get the new Escort 9500x...

ive had a couple different ones.

whistler xtr690:
-price was right at about 120ish
-good range
-only expect it to warn you if the officer has his gun on

valentine 1:
-picked up used for 200 (normally 400)
-flat black ~very discrete
-very good range
--only expect it to warn you if the officer has his gun on

there were numerous times when i would come around a corner going 10 over and as soon as i saw the cop THEN the detector would go on. it is very important to know that the radar guns are not on at all times. also be aware of laser, which is very hard for radar detectors to catch. i believe it is illegal in all 50 states to have radar jamming? from everywhere i have heard, Never buy a cobra or any walmart special. spend the extra nickel and get a decent one. also heard that cobra leaks? idk if anything here helps in your decision.

Basically, there is no such thing on the market. Laser jamming on the other hand is legal in most states.

But your budget is what is the real question here!

This unit is BAD *** and well the price kinda speaks for it's self. You only want a really good shop to install something like this. Just my .02 cents, but I have installed a few of these and anyone that has had em LOVES them!

i know how you feel about the radar detector thing i drive faster then most people but not that fast type of thing.

You need a radar detector with "K,KA,Laser, and Pop if your lucky" look for a cobra radar detector in the $70 and under range.

Do your homework first before buying a radar detector so you know what the signals mean

A $70 radar detector provides no usable protection; especially Cobra brand units. A $70 radar detector is no better than simply scanning the road with your eyes watching for law enforcement.

Unless you truly man up and spend a lot of money they are just a false sense of security... Drive the speed limit and/or plan accordingly and you are fine...
