Tuning Type R's in SoCal
Anyone in SoCal have any good suggestions for shops (or a person) experienced in tuning R's? I am looking for a shop to tune my cam gears, V-AFC, and FPR after the HyTech header-cat-exhaust system goes on. I'd like to tune it myself so I can learn about tuning and such however all the dyno shops I called said they won't rent out their dyno for liability issues. So I guess now I'm looking for a shop that has someone who can tune R's the best, any suggestions?

I will let you tell me whatever you want, if you want to make all the tuning decisions.
Its up to you./
I will do all the dyno runs, of course....but if you want to have a crack at it...thats fine.
If I don't think its good, I will tell you. People know me like that. I have my opinions.

Thanks.
Well here is the lowdown. I have a lambda meter, hooked into the laptop, directly.
At every single throttle position, and every single RPM, it will save a number..
the A/F ratio. Everywhere I drive, it will save it. I then, will go in, edit the values, until the values are:
14.7 for narrow, 13.5 for mid throttle, and 12.0-12.5 under boost.
I will then retard your timing from stock, about 6-10 degrees under mid to full throttle so It will not detonate.
I believe the system I have in place for Hondata is as good as I can make it, and I do 3-5 hondata's every week.
I have alot of people coming from out of state, northern california and from as far as washington and wyoming to get tuned.
I charge $300 for all dyno tuning, on the dyno.
I will charge $400 for dyno tuning on the dyno, AND a street narrow throttle tuning session.
so you get both.
it will take from 3-4 hours. You drive on the street, narrow, I sit in there, and tune it to perfection with laptop and make changes on the fly.
If your not satisfied with your car, you don't pay.
I only had 1 guy not pay. So far. And I couldn't help him, it was mechanical and out of my hands tuning wise.
Thank you for considering me.
P.S. Ryan, the guy from Kansas got 335 WHP at 11 PSI on his 1.8 liter, and 356 WHP at 12.5 PSI. He was pretty happy.

i have never been to import builder before, but i have heard a lot good things about them...
, also i wonder if anyone can tell me the labor charge at import builder?

Try Aries at Dynamic Autosports, he has a lot of experience. I think he was one of the first guys to get a Dynojet in 95. Trust me he is the man when it comes to sprocket tuning. Word of advice a good tuning shop will recommend that you have certain parts on the car before they tune it. This especially important so that you don't have to go back again. A good shop will not try to make you tune your car after every part you buy. Buy all your parts needed to tune your engine and then get it tuned.

I like Aries at Dynamic Auto. He installed my Jun3's and tunes my car every time I change something. 110K miles and still running strong. I definitely trust him.
