Default anybody with a c1...please help

my coolant temperature sensor is in place but does not have any wires connectiong to it, and i found a wire with a cut off end dangling and im assuming this might be it, but i want to make sure first, its a black wire with a thick white line running along it...if anybody is ever around an open hood and can check, any help would be f-ing terrific, thanks

man... what kind of car.. what year... etc etc...

there are two coolant "sensors" one is a sensor ( for the ecu ) one is a sender and uses only one wire. which one are you asking about? i looked up wiring on a 95 DC2 and the coolant temp sender uses a yellow/green wire.

It's hard to tell what you are talking about. A picture would help.

ok, do you know what harness was used?

and which sensor are you exactly talking about. state the location exactly.

is it the one for the temp guage?

i just figured you were not paying attention or trying, you didnt say you didnt know.

my bad, i have no idea about the harness or about anything to do with it, i'll research that soon, but im talking about the coolant temperature sensor, it is what displays the reading on the gauge and the actual sensor is located on the backside of the motor, more near the passenger side

ok i'll see if i can help. do you know what year the C1 is? the reason i ask which sensor it is is because there are 2 of them, one is for the computer and one for the gauge. the one for the computer will usually be 2 wire and the one for the guage is always 1, the one for the guage works off of resistance to ground, the hotter the engine gets the more the sensor grounds the wire, so when you find the wire for the guage if you ground it to the engine ( or any ground ) the guage will go all the way hot and back to cold if the wire is not connected to anything. if you run positive power to the wire it does not have the opposite effect so dont do that if you were thinking it.

the wire for the 95 gsr i looked up will be a yellow/green wire ( dosen't say for sure but should be Yellow with green stripe ) but it will be a wire by itself in the harness.

the wire for your CRX harness is also yellow/green so look for a wire in that area of the harness. near the sensor it should be over there by the thermostat housing.

search around in the harness find that wire, ground it to the block or any ground. i would have a buddy watch the guage while you tap the wire and see if the guage jumps. in case you have the wrong wire dont just wire it up and go. the guage will have a little delay it dosent move real fast so give it a second too.

if all else fails you can run a wire from the back of the cluster to the sensor. again at the cluster it will be yellow green.
