Default New Bike - Remember Chips?

First, the obligatory money shot:

Another bike to the collection. It's a 1998 BMW R1100RT-P. The P stands for Police. For the first three years of it's life it was a CHP bike. It's got a "Mary" number on it somewhere, just like they used to say their bikes had in the tv show. It's a really nice highway ride, the adjustable windscreen makes life nice, among other things. I've got some plans to make it more cosmetically 'right', but first it'll need a new clutch [bad].

Enjoy!

Pics from before I picked it up:

Pics from the pickup:

And the remainder of the collcetion:

(I'm in the middle of a frame swap - putting a nicer black one on)

And the SuperMoto

(You know, I think I'm spoiled...)

nice collection, my friend bought an f4i that was previously owned by a cop, he said that something with the registration says it "is" owned by a police officer so if he ever got pulled over it would show up when they ran his registration, the cop would think he, or one of his family, is "one of their own" and let him go. is the same thing true for you now? nice bike regardless, you should grow a mustache, seems all police bikers have them.

no, your friend wont go let up becuase the registration is under his name now, and yes thats true, if you work for the law enforcement when they run your plates it wont show your address or anything thats how they know you work for law enforcement, you only get this privelage if YOU work for law enforcement now just someone in your family

Be careful, here in CA drivers get super pissed when they see people on those bikes. Asking to get brake checked or cut off.

What are the laws in your area regarding the blue reflectors?

They're illegal here on anything but active LE units.

Lengthened the wires and attached it to the subframe cross brace with big band clamps.

I'm surprsed, too! It'll be much more BA when it's done with the work I'm doing now, though.

Really? Just riding it home a cop waved at me and people would tiptoe by... it was kind of amusing.

Actually, from what little I know about these bikes, the lighting is regulated Federally. Over here forward facing blue lights are what causes a problem. It's got a headlight modulator on it, but I leave it off because I've heard rumors that people tend to think you're giving them the 'go ahead' at internsections. And I've had way too much intersection trouble lately.

I <3 the water bottle.

Congrats on the purchase! Those BMWs run pretty fast (Stout was mounted on one of those when he "chased" me down).

Both the F4i and Brian's 636 need to be brought here to the best coast! Those things would sell in a heartbeat.

I did at first, because I thought it was my buddy who was trying to catch up to me.

Then I noticed flashing lights.

There are a bunch of the Ex units around here in TN and you've made a good choice. I know here in TN and in cali you need to remove all but basically the paint scheme

That weight was all from Stout's fat ego.
