Seriously the weirdest thing ever...
So since last night, my 06 Civic LX has been doing some weird stuff. The temp gauge starts out normal when I start the car, and then it slowly climbs all the way up to being extremely close to the "H" and then climbs back down under the halfway point between "C" and "H" and then rises back up to the same point again. This cycle keeps going, and it's scaring the **** out of me. I'm not going to drive the car anymore in fear of engine seize, at least until Monday when I can take it into the dealer. Until then, does anyone know what the hell could be wrong? I have a feeling it may have something to do with the coolant piping, but I'm not totally sure. I also haven't gotten the time to check fluid levels at all, but I will do that tomorrow. Any input will help.

I put my stock airbox back on, to do that you have to disconnect the secondary coolant tube thingy. That's one of my suspiscions.

Just filled up the coolant, it was literally empty. Now the temp gauge is back to normal. I will keep checking in the next couple for leaks etc.
Does anyone think there will be any permanent damage to the engine from driving the car with barely any coolant in it for about 15-20 miles? That's pretty much my only concern at this point.
Thanks for all help!

its prolly won't harm anything although i don't reccommend it. i once drove my integra or 100 miles back home with half the fluid missing i just cranked the heat and let it coast when it got too hot it ended up being the clamps but the engine ran fine.
Check the block, D/S of the exahust manifold about midway up from the bottom for a hairline fracture. We've had at least 2-3 in the last 6 months with cracked blocks.
i use prestone 50/50 from autozone. mine was dry too. lucky for me i was actually on the way to buy the collant when the CEL came on. poured some in and it ran just fine.

i have also been told that honda coolant is recommended for our cars. so go to the dealer if you want the best. autozone if your cool with other brands
