My homemade splitter that reduced water temps by more than 20 degrees:

$50 polyethelyne sheet sliced in half, plus about $10 in nuts, bolts and washers from Home Depot. I am uncoordinated and get frustrated changing oil, yet I fabricated this splitter by myself.

Email me I have been trying to get ahold of you to see how it went...guess this disaster answers my questions...was it in the race or qualifying.?
Wow. I didn't even hear about that. Looks like quite a punch. Glad you're OK.

Pat, out of curiosity, was this something you attempted to enter a protest against? I've seen folks do as such in the event of another acting in an unsportmanlike manner (at least that's how I thought was the protest was voiced).

Why'd you spin out.? Going fast or sumthin'??..
After 30-45 seconds and two near misses (with the yellow flag waving the whole time), somebody finally got all squirrely and tagged me.

) and I could still race. So we went to work on it and go my car out in time for the afternoon qualifying session. After that I had to take Karen home so she could get ready for the NASA autox. Came back to the track to talk to the chief steward. I wasn't going to go out on a witch hunt to kick the other guy out -- I just wanted an explanation of why I sat down there for so long (stayed down there another 2 laps after I was hit) w/o EV or somebody being sent down (all I needed was a push start) and if something had been done to the guy who hit me.
Anyway, the chief steward said I should have filed a protest right after the incident while it was still "fresh in everyone's mind." To me (I don't have my GCR in front of me so if I'm wrong let me know) the chief steward shouldn't have waited around for me to initiate action. A driver hit a disabled vehicle under a waving yellow! What is there that needed for me to be done when the chief steward was up in the tower listening to corner workers on the radio?
Well, anyway I don't want to think about this any more. It just gets me all pissed when I do.
