Default JDM Eg 3000?

So i got a friend whos homie is selling me a jdm eg for $3000 not sure wat year but its not registered according to him.i was wondering wether its a good deal?i heard registration for this eg would most likely be around $500.Wat can i do to make sure its real jdm and not just converted?Is it a good deal?

What's the VIN#? You can look it up under CarFax and such.

The VIN# on the firewall should match the one at the bottom driver's side window.

Yeah, they have an emblem on the radiator support that has a sequence number, chassis code, region code, and other info. They do not have a traditional 17-digit VIN like we are used to.
