CV Axle or Trans?
I posted about how my steering wheel was jerking/jolting to the right. Well, the other day I found out when my car wouldn't go into gear. I pop the hood and I see the passenger side CV Axle just sitting there spinning. It looks like it popped out or something. I'm going to get another CV Axle and replace it.
My question is. Do you think the main problem is the trans or the CV Axle? I'd hate to replace a CV Axle just find out it is a trans problem.
Thanks in advance.

it its ur cv axle it most likely didnt just pop out unless your missing the big nut at the end of the wheel. Its most likely broken. Change the axles and fix ur problem. If its not fixed then u definately know its ur tranny. but i doubt its that.
You could be dragging your CV axles on the ground and when you push the clutch the trans should go into gear.
Can you tell if the spline on the diff popped out somehow or how exactly the shaft is loose?

That's not good to just do a shotgun diagnosis, unless you've got an unlimited source of funds.
If the axle is spinning, the splines of the axle are obviously lined up in the differential. Pull the axle out and look inside. Make sure your spider gears are all there and intact. When was the last time you changed your tranny fluid? That can cause it to become difficult to put into gear. The tranny shifting into gear has nothing to do with the axle.
