if the VC changes color due to heat, something is very wrong. My firends VC is painted and clear coated w/ normal paint and he has a FR ramhorn, 20k miles later the paint it perfect, dont worry about it.

Or simply buy some 1200 degree high temp auto part primer (then just spray whatever you want on top). I got a can from AAP for a couple bucks.
